New funding of US$11.8 million has been added to US$2.95 million that had already been awarded to the project. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the increased funding would allow design of the second bridge to start along with geotechnical works.
The proposed bridge would provide three new northbound lanes alongside the existing bridge, which carries one of South East Queensland’s busiest roads.
