At least one span of the century-old bridge over Tempe Town Lake has been brought down by the accident, which caused a major fire.
The Tempe police and fire departments have attended the scene. Police chief Sylvia Moir tweeted (with the image below) that there have been no known injuries but that the scene is very dangerous.
