An active travel route over the M8 motorway in the north of Glasgow, Scotland, has been beautified with 30,000 plants, trees and shrubs to create a green space that is also a transport link.

Johnsons Nurseries supplied the plants and worked with P1 Contractors and Glasgow City Council on the 58m footbridge between Sighthill and Glasgow city centre. The landscaping marks the end of the 30-month build.

The planting is intended to complement the architectural design of the footbridge, adding charm and greenery.

The bridge features an innovative printed concrete staircase (link opens in new tab).
