Mott MacDonald designed the bridge and supervised its construction on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS).
The bridge has been built as part of a city revitalisation initiative set up by HKHS to benefit local communities, improve business environments and attract more visitors from other districts. The 85m-long footbridge connects Tuen Mun Park and Tin Hau Temple Plaza and forms part of the Tuen Mun River beautification project.
Dr HT Cheng, Mott MacDonald’s project director, said: “Tuen Mun River footbridge is a contemporary yet traditional concrete structure with Chinese-style materials as finishes. It has been a deeply rewarding project, especially as it has been well received by both local councillors and the general public who have witnessed the entire construction process from commencement to completion.”
