Argentina’s Ministry of Transport first solicited tenders for the project – which includes the construction of two new stations – in 2017. However the process was suspended in 2018 after technical requirements were modified when the client specified ballastless track.

The winning bidder will have 21 months to complete the work. The contract is estimated at US$76 million and bids must be submitted by 24 July 2019.

Work is expected to begin in 2020 once the first section currently under construction is completed as well as the new Sáenz Station.
