Schlaich Bergermann Partner (SBP) has won the contest, beating entries from international architects and bridge design offices. SBP teamed up with the local design institute SUCDRI for the competition,

The double arch bridge is planned for a prominent location along the Corniche Road in Qianhai, a newly emerging urban district of Shenzhen. It will span the river with a total length of 208m and a width of 57m.

SBP said that the asymmetrical design of the arches emphasises the view towards the city centre and Qianhai Bay area. The arches also separate the inner fast traffic from the pedestrian and cycle path.

For the design, extremely complex boundary conditions had to be taken into account, as there are several subway and highway tunnels running directly under the bridge’s location.
Construction of the bridge is scheduled to start in early 2021.
