The US$250 million Industrial Bridge will be 2.7km long, second only to the Chacao Bridge.

Minister of public works Alfredo Moreno said that work will start at both sides of the river, including the construction of plants to manufacture the concrete for the bridge’s beams.

The Industrial Bridge will connect the communities of Hualpén and San Pedro de la Paz with a structure of two lanes in each direction. The project also includes extensions to local roads to promote development of the region.

The concession project also involves the construction of a new bridge over the Los Batros estuary on Route 160, to replace the existing one.

Construction of the Industrial Bridge is expected to generate 450 direct jobs a month on average, with a peak of 850 in the 2022/2023 summer season. The bridge is due for completion in 2024.
