Konkan Railway Corporation announced the completion of the ‘golden joint’ at the centre of the deck of the bridge high above the River Chenab.
The bridge forms part of the Katra-Dharam section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
It is being built at height of up to 359m above the river bed and is set to take the world record for being the highest rail bridge.
The contractor is Afcons Infrastructure and the bridge has been designed by WSP with sub-consultant Leonhardt, Andra & Partner. Other companies involved in the project include Cowi, Aecom, Itasca, Italferr, Anwikar Consultants, Sail and URS-Scott Wilson.
